If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

man-eating humming birds?

A person that has a trillion dollars?

someone with naturally purple hair?

microscopic jeep wranglers?

Why is the claim that an invisable man who manipulates the universe at will, and created women from a guys rib, and talking bushes and snakes, why are these different? Why do people believe %26gt;these%26lt; things?

All of the forementioned things, including god, sound equally absurd, offer just as much evidence (zero), and yet people beieve in only one of them, god.

Why is the belief in god different that the belief in man-eating humming birds?

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

10 foot tall pink zebra, no such thing, the pink zebra breed only grows up to be 8 feet tall.

Yeah, just look at this photo.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

Proof. We need proof.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

No, but BOY HOWDY I would wonder how drunk I was to be thinking something like a ten foot tall pink zebra was real. HAH!

And what do you mean people don't have naturally purple hair? Everyone with hair the colours of the rainbow come from Japan, you know. ;P

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

Only if that person was God.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

No. Everybody knows pink zebras only grow to 8ft. 2in. silly.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

No I won't. I'll need a SOLID proof that what they say is correct.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

I believe what ever you said.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

I would only believe if you providef an anonymously written book that told me it was true. I NEED PROOF!!!!

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

I can counter man eating humming birds with the morphological and evolutionary evidence on humming birds. I can put not one scintilla of evidence toward this god concept.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

Actually, If you told me anything at all, I wouldln't believe you.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

With God,All things are possible.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

It's all about faith. Faith isn't just about belief, faith is about believing in something bigger than you, and believing it without proof.

What about parents who believe their child (who is on trial for murder) is innocent even though there is evidence to the contrary? That's faith.

Faith in God is no different. Our modern world tells us that we should "believe it when we see it".

I'm a Catholic, so I believe that Jesus is Lord with all my heart. If I didn't however, I would still believe that there was at least some kind of higher power. We didn't just appear out of nowhere.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

If there were undeniable proof that man came from ape, that life came from ooze and that our precisely placed solar system came about by some cosmic accident, then I would also believe that purple people-eaters live under my bed.

The beliefs of evolutionary science are just as absurd.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

It depends if it gives me a burning in my bosom...

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

I wouldn't if I considered it rationally. But I probably would if my parents believed it and taught it to me from birth.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

Actually, I thought microscopic jeep wranglers were real.... Dang MSNBC!

And belief in God/god is different from belief in man-eating humming birds primarily because man-eating humming birds don't really provide an answer for existence. From Tiamat to Zeus to the Big Bang, humans have an undying need to explain why it is that everything and everyone Is and how it is that everyone and everything got here. All cultures and people (prior, of course, to the Enlightenment) have constructed some idea of the Divine in order to explain life and reality. Most certainly, these ideas have been myths that make sense to those people in those cultures.

It may make sense to some to believe, for instance, that man-eating humming birds actually provide this answer. And that's how beliefs are different.

What I need help understanding is this particular dynamic. Why do those who do not believe in God/god/gods give a flying flip whether or not anyone else does? Live and let live. Stop evangelizing Christians...and we promise to stop evangelizing you!

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

It is one thing to believe in God (who is NOT, at least according to my beliefs, an "invisible man"), another thing entirely to believe that women are made from men's ribs or that snakes speak or bushes burn without being consumed. All of these are products of stories told about God - the best attempts of the ancients to describe in human terms the very indescribable and incomprehensible things that had happened to them.

Was woman really fashioned from a man's rib? Or was that story simply the ancients' way of describing the integral, lifegiving relationship between woman and man?

Did a burning bush really speak to Moses and command him to rescue the Israelites? Or was that story man's way of describing a bewildering and life-changing encounter with an extraordinary entity?

Did a talking snake really tempt the world's first woman to commit sin? Or is that story merely the ancients' best way of describing how evil came to be in the world. What sayest thou, o man of science? How does science explain the existence of evil in the world?

I do not believe in man-eating hummingbirds because wise men and women at various times and in various places have never attempted to describe their experience of man-eating hummingbirds. However, men and women the world over have, for thousands of years, encountered that which is so strange and out-of-the-ordinary, so wonderful and so terrible, so awe-inspring and so unnerving, that they have written volumes to try to describe it. I do not believe these men and women are all lunatics. I believe there are plenty of individuals living TODAY who have also had such experiences - who can share with us all their wisdom of that which none of us will ever fully comprehend.

I believe in God because, after using my reason, my personal experience, and my conscience to sift the testimony of the ages, I am convinced that God exists.

If someone told you that 10 foot high pink zebras existed, would you believe them?

Do you believe that atoms and molecules are real? Have you ever seen one? I believe in them too but I can't prove they exist and even if I could I probably couldn't prove it to someone who lacked the scientific knowledge to understand my proofs. Most of us take the idea of atomic structure on faith because we lack the specialized knowledge to really understand how it all works.

We believe allot of things without absolute proof.

Your argument is that the idea of god is ridiculous. Therefore anyone who believes in a god is foolish. So here is a group of questions for you. Do you believe the universe is infinite? Do you have absolute knowledge of every thing within it? If you don't then why do you believe that there can't be anything in the entire infinite universe more powerful then us? Can you prove that there isn't anything in the infinite universe that could make a planet or divide a sea? Can you prove that in all that exist in the universe nothing could create life? There is nothing that could be intelligent and powerful besides us? Where did you get your absolute knowledge of the entire universe?

Who's foolish?
