if you have fair skin you shoud never wear bright bright colors or white because it will just wash you out.

go with black or earth tones... pink if it's dark, and blue if it's navy

EDIT- either solids or print. it doesn't really matter unless you're heavy. If you're heavy, avoid horizontal stripes. Horizontal stripes make the illusion of being wider, and vertical stripes make the illusion of longer/taller.
